1. Aspiring sincerely to an international peace based on justice and order, the Japanese people forever renounce war as a sovereign right of the nation and the threat or use of force as means of settling international disputes.
2. In order to accomplish the aim of the preceding paragraph, land, sea and air forces as well as other war potential will never be maintained. The right of belligerency of the state will not be recognized.
The reason that there is an Article 9 group at all is that the Japanese government has turned its attention to items political, and has set its sights on the constitution. It is already editing education policy, but it also looks likely that the government wants to change the constitution so that it can wage war again. It most certainly is not in the best interests of the population in general to head down this slippery slope, and I begged the people in attendance to protect the country from the American web of deception.

Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution is naive and foolish. In order for any world power to have security and peace they must maintain an army. Japan is the not the same country that it was in WII: they are a free democratic that is a force for good. We should encourage Japan to take off the shackles of foolishness and join the world as a strong and fully independent country.
Has Japan made that big a change since WWII? Sure don't see it. Same old kind of "leadership." Force for good? Don't see where that comes from. Most of the money it gives to other countries in ODA is in loans, and how many refugees have they accepted? Has Japan kept its Kyoto Treaty obligations? These are just a few examples, but chosen to cover a range of issues.
"Take off the shackles of foolishness" and accept a different kind of foolish shackles is more like it. It is foolish to squander national resources on the military industrial complex. Right now the Japanese military budget is a small part of the country's operating expenses. If they change the constitution and allow a military (which they already have in all but name) they'll want to spend on war toys like everyone else. That is insanity of the worst kind.
Also most Japanese do not support revising Article 9.
