Extensive reading and how to work it into the course... Gave a unit quiz today and the students did really well on the listening, speaking, and writing section. The reading section on the other hand was less than superior. A benefit of extended reading is that students build their vocabulary if nothing else. I am concerned about time, though. My guess is that they are not going to be very excited about reading outside of class, and I'm not sure that I want to spend time doing it in class. It is also important to adjust the reading level to their abilities. What to read?
